Ready Steady Go

A huge apology first for my wankerdom in being absent, I’ve recently relocated countries and am just now starting to settle in. (read, stolen wifi) In any case Hammers fans haven’t missed too much recently, Bellamy is injured, Ljungberg left in a big money blunder and we signed some kids who are so insignificant that Wikipedia has frozen their articles stating that they aren’t players of note and thus don’t deserve a page (bear in mind that Pokemon, Captain Picard, and other fictional characters all have Wikipedia pages) Read the rest of this entry »
Kicked to the Curb-ishley?

Some talking points as you wait for the eclipse…
-We’ve signed Czech Jan Lastuvka as Bobbie Green’s understudy on a season-long loan/ I’m of the opinion that if Fulham didn’t want him we shouldn’t either, though he is just an understudy, and if last season is anything to go by we’ll rarely see the guy anyways. I’d rather see Marek Stech play that role, though, as he’s looked promising in some of the reserve games–I’d love to see this kid get a shot.
-Bookies worldwide are giving odds stating that our dear mananger will be the first to get the sack this season. Injuries last season give him the benefit of the doubt but he won’t be able to use that tired excuse this season, regardless of who’s injured or not. If we’re not in the top half by Christmas he’s gone.
-Spearking of injuries, Geroge McCartney, Lee Bowyer, Kieron Dyer, Nigel Quashie, Danny Gabbidon, James Collins, Luis Boa Morte, Matthew Etherington, Jonathan Spector and James Tomkins are all injured. Just those guys? Just ten? That’s it? We can handle it. They must pay our physio staff terrible overtime, but we can handle it.
-Craig Bellamy has been absolutely wicked this offseason with loads of goals of late. Hopefully this can transfer to Premier League success.
-Finally, highly-rated Michael Chretien of Morocco is said to be on his way here, he’s a pretty good defender from what I’ve seen though we’ll be absolutely stacked on the right side if he comes. You have to trust Don Nani though.
West Ham, Argentinians, and Americans

Well we lost, 3-2. The game was well fought and we were able to start an Academy graduate. Deano scored a brace and we really did look in fairly decent form. And as the MLS All-Stars are now 5-0 in All-Star Matches, it’s hard to complain about the final result. The team seemed to gel a bit better than previously, specifically between Deano and Cole though it’s hard to tell as ESPN kept cutting away to talk about baseball scores, the food at the stadium, the weather, and their mothers’ back troubles. In all, though, I was just happy to see the Hammers on TV in a mostly competitive match. Read the rest of this entry »
West Ham in Canada/West Ham au Canada
By: AlexG |
The last of our glorified preseason friendlies, this match will be a good test, mostly in the field of fitness. While this game seems of little relevance to us, the MLS All-Stars are in mid-season form and will be looking for a victory against us, and I would like to see the Hammers defend and spread our club’s name. Whether victorious or not, I wouldn’t read too much into the actual result, as I’d much rather see our first teamers last at least 75 minutes. Read the rest of this entry »
Bienvenue M. Behrami! Et Merci M. Nani!
By: AlexG |Former Lazio champ Valon Behrami has signed for the Hammers for £5million from Lazio. I guess Di Canio told him how great the Hammers are? In any case, Behrami was a bargain if you ask me, and a great addition to the squad.
A Continental Transfer Window?
By: AlexG |
As you, the presumably Hammer faithful will already know, we as a club haven’t really done anything in terms of acquiring new players this offseason. Sure we’ve gotten a couple of youngsters but nothing else. I’m tempted to trust new transfer guru Gianluca Nani as he’s the guy who has spotted and developed legends such as Andrea Pirlo, Luca Toni and, to a lesser extent, Roberto Baggio. You have to understand, though, that in calcio the managers usually depend on a separate staff member who handles scouting and transfers almost exclusively, meaning that Curbishley won’t have as strong a say in who comes in, a relief to most Hammer fans, I would assume. West Ham 08/09 Kits
By: AlexG |The new home kit was released yesterday, perhaps slightly overshadowed by the release of A.C. Milan’s line of kits. Nothing too drastic has happened to the kit but it looks a slight bit sharper than its predecessor. For those who like the kit, you can go ahead and safely purchase that Ashton #9 jersey as he looks to be with the club for a while. For those who don’t, well, they’ll come out with a new kit next season. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m forever blowing…dude, bro, that song is gay
By: AlexG |
It is obviously an extremely opportune time to take over the West Ham United blog considering yesterday’s violence but I suppose one can’t choose when to make wordpress cooperate. In any case, my name’s Alex and I’ll be taking over as the most influential blogger covering the less influential but equally glorious West Ham.
We’ll start off with the “hooliganism.” My guess is that about 1% of the claret and blue-clad at the match were, in fact, true West Ham supporters. It’s shocking, I know, that so few of the East London faithful were unwilling to make the arduous journey to the middle of fucking nowhere, USA, to see what is basically a glorified preseason friendly. Hammers and Spurs to share Upton Park?
By: Erick |Yes, you read that right. Apparently the Spurs need to add a few (16,000) seats to their own stadium and are looking to share Boleyn Grounds (Upton Park) with the Hammers for next season while their own stadium gets upgraded. As crazy as this may sound for Hammer fans, it might be to some benefit as the Spurs are willing to cough millions of pounds to share the grounds. For those not in the loop of why most Hammer fans would object to sharing their grounds, they only need to look back a few years when Tottenham raped and pillaged West Ham of key players like Jermaine Dafoe and Michael Carrick. Now before all of you go jumping off the bridge, nothing has been set in stone, and Tottenham have merely proposed the idea to the board at West Ham. Stay tuned…
In other news, England U21 midfielder Mark Noble has undergone DOUBLE HERNIA repair surgery in Germany and will be out of action for atleast 3 weeks. Craig Bellamy and Lee Bowyer are the other two players with hernia injuries. Who the heck is Curbishley going to put in midfield this Saturday with Mullins now out with an ankle injury? It’s a good thing we play Derby, but that said there is no way I’m counting any points yet.
I’ll be back tomorrow with more Hammer goodies!
