Deano, Say It Ain’t So

By: Martin | August 24th, 2009

Dean Ashton
The British tabloids are reporting that Dean Ashton may be close to calling it quits on his playing career as he struggles with his comeback from ankle injury. This has kept Deano out of the side since turning his ankle in Gianfranco Zola’s first training session as manager. Ashton recently visited Dutch surgeon, Niek van Dijk, for an assessment on the injury and the doctor is reported to have told Deano he must accept his playing career is over (Daily Mail).

Zola has dismissed reports, saying Deano is continuing his treatment. But even if Deano does return, will he be the same caliber of striker who joined the Hammers back in January 2006?

Very sad, I like Ashton. This picture makes him look like Buck from Band of Brothers.

Top class striker who would be leading the line for England if he was fit, I really hope this isn’t true
