Eggert Magnusson to step down…
By: Erick | September 18th, 2007
Due to the recent success at West Ham United, Club owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson (phew!) has decided to make some changes to the boardroom. Here is the official statement from West Ham:
With growing confidence and optimism surrounding the Club’s future and with significant progress being made in delivering a new stadium, the Board feels it is the right time to strengthen a management structure which will help secure the long term ambitions of the Club.Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, the Club’s owner, will continue to chair the Club’s holding Board and this body will direct the overall strategy of the Club as well as developments such as the new stadium. Eggert Magnusson will remain as chairman of the Club in a non-executive capacity with an executive team responsible for day to day operations.
So what does it all mean? Nothing really. Curbishley will still manage the club without much change and there will be more people brought on board to try and build a new stadium. Not bad.
So since I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, it’s nice to announce that West Ham are sitting at sixth from the top of the table with a game in hand. Never thought I’d be able to say that so early into the season considering it started so horribly against Man City. Even better news though are that West Ham were able to finally win a home game AND they are also starting to get healthy. Scott Parker is finally able to play (and played in reserve match during the week) and Freddie Ljunberg was also back in action against Middlesbrough. Dean Ashton is also looking much better scoring his first goal this past Saturday. Pretty soon Curbishley will have no excuses!!!
What I’d like to throw out on the table is how impressive Robert Green has been in goal, and how well the midfield four-piece of Mullins, Noble, Bowyer and Etherington have been very effective. Let’s just hope these players can keep it up because I’m sure Ljunberg and new additon Solano would love to get more playing time. Oh yeah, Scott Parker too. Wow, it’s strange to have some solid options in midfield now. GO HAMMMERS!!!!!
