Paul Konchesky in happier times…
Current Fulham player and former West Ham left-back Paul Konchesky has recently hit out at former manager Alan Curbishley claiming that Tevez did not return to the club because he did not want to play for Curbishley. Konchesky also added that new Tottenham striker Darren Bent refused to sign for West Ham because of Curbishley’s reputation. Here is what he said:
‘There was, and still is, a lot of unhappy players at the club who don’t like him. I am one of them and he knows that, and that is why I left the club,’
‘I know there are a lot of players who don’t think he is any good.
‘I am sure that is one of the main reasons Carlos Tevez didn’t stay at the club, and also why Darren Bent refused to sign for West Ham. It was because of the manager.
‘He is hard to get on with. He doesn’t have much banter; he is serious all the time, he keeps himself to himself and doesn’t get involved - very old school.’
Now what does this mean for West Ham and Curbishley? Well, in a nutshell it means that although they are finally free of the Carlos Tevez drama, that there still is DRAMA of some sort at the club and it most likely will affect their performances on the pitch. Whether or not Konchesky’s comments are accurate or not, they do hurt West Ham’s reputation in the transfer market and ultimately players could use it as an excuse to not perform up to par, once again blaming their relationship with their manager. *sigh*
One thing’s for sure, West Ham are not going to have a dream season…
