This was one of the most ridiculous rulings I have ever come across, the fact that a tribunal put an arbitrary three point on value on Tevez seems to set a precendent that a player can equal a set number of points for a team. Watching Tevez and West Ham when he was on the club one would think he was worth more than that, but it is funny to think that Tevez did it alone. Last time I checked he had ten teammates as well and though scored he goals he most certainly did not do it all on his own. Where does Mascherano and Liverpool now stand in all this, werent the player both in the same fashion from the same “middle man.” This is a poor decision and punishes a club that has already had to endure the loss of both Tevez and Mascherano and now the fine, another case of the rich getting richer…

So does this mean ManUre will be fined for picking up an ineligible player, or are the rules different for West Ham and poorer clubs like them? The rules for acquiring a player were broken according to FA law. West Ham paid for that according to the FA’s RULES and were fined. But because Sheffield United were relegated, they decided to recoup lost millions by complaining about the FA’s rules not satisfying THEM. Maybe S.U. should sue the FA? Sheffield United didn’t go down because of Tevez, they went down because they were awful. Did Sheffield United complain after beating us 3-0 WITH Tevez on the pitch that day at Bramall Lane???

ale, the legal position on this (first established by the FA panel that fined West Ham and followed by this tribunal) is that West Ham obtained Tevez’ clearance to play under false pretences by by concealing the true nature of their arrangements with MSI from the FA and Premier League.

Didn’t the FA clear West Ham to play Tevez though?

No player is worth any amount of points, but a team breaking them knowingly does deserve punishment. Tevez wasn’t playing for West Ham legally, and West Ham deserve whatever they get.

I dunno. You’re right, you can’t measure a player in points, but West Ham shouldn’t have had Tevez, knew they shouldn’t have had Tevez, and it did seem he pretty much kept West Ham up. Its take so long that noone cares anymore though.
