West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur Preview
By: Martin | August 21st, 2009
West Ham v Spurs, Sunday, August 23, 1:30PM
With Hérita Ilunga out for the next week with a jaw injury and James Collins possibly transferred to a club to be named later, Gianfranco Zola should be looking to bring defenders Danny Gabbidon, Fabio Daprela or Jonathan Spector back into the team for Sunday’s match with Spurs.
Despite a weeks worth of rumors concerning every European striker possible, Zola goes into the weekend with just the formidable Carlton Cole as the lone striker. Hopefully on Sunday we’ll see a repeat of last week’s effort at Wolves with Kieron Dyer and Jack Collison taking some chances and getting into those goalscoring positions.
Tottenham look like they are without their number one goalkeeper, Heurelho Gomes, who suffered a groin injury last week. Spurs bring the in form, ex-Hammer, Jermain Defoe to Upton Park, who will no doubt receive a rowdy reception when he takes the field. In addition Spurs will expect to field Ledley King, who was rested after injury.
